Clean Sterilise

First step of sterilisation

Luna fills Emanui with water up to the inner line, the same amount as for cleaning.

Put the menstrual cup

Luna inserts down the stem of her cup between the 3 holders as deep as she can.

Screw the clamping ring

When Luna is sure that the stem is fully inserted, she screws the ring to lock the cup.

Close Emanui

Because the cup is held tight, she can safely insert the cup in the water and screw the lid.

Before the microwave

She knows how important it is to open the small orange cap to make sure the steam can come out while microwaving.

Time to sterilise

Luna places Emanui with the open small orange cap in the empty microwave.

Set the timer and power

3 minutes and max power (no more than 1200W), it's all she needs to kill harmful bacteria and germs.

Time to wait

Luna waits 3 minutes.


Sterilise with Emanui

Luna knows that during the sterilisation, steam will come out of Emanui in the same way as a pressure-cooker.

It's ready

She opens the microwave and carefully removes Emanui.

Take out Emanui

Luna takes a pair of oven gloves or insulation pads to take out Emanui from the microwave because it is quite hot.

Few minutes after

Luna' cup is sterilised and ready for the next cycle.

1st sterilisation, what should I do?

If you have a micro-wave, follow the sterilisation storyboard. If not, put Emanui fully dismantled in a boiling water for 5 minutes. Amount of the water should be high enough to avoid that Emanui touches the side or bottom of the pot.

How long should I sterilise menstrual cup with Emanui?

To ensure proper sterilisation which will remove harmful bacterial and germs we recommend to sterilise Emanui in the microwave oven for 3 minutes and max power (no more than 1200W). Please see more details in the storyboard section above.

What if I do not have a microwave?

If you do not have a micro wave, you can sterilise Emanui and your menstrual cup by simply boiling it in the pot of water.
Beware of making sure that Emanui does not touch the side of the pot, it could damage it.

Do not fully screw the clamping ring during boiling as it may deform the 3 holders of the Lid.
